Watch: Logitech g305 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse White — Video Review
Design & Build
The G305 Lightspeed in white keeps things classic: a compact, ambidextrous-leaning shape with six programmable buttons and a clean, understated look that suits any setup. It runs on a single AA battery, which keeps the body simple and the runtime long, though it adds a touch of weight compared with rechargeable rivals. Build quality is reassuringly solid for the price, with crisp main clicks and a comfortable, no-nonsense form. Stepping up the range, the G PRO 2 is lighter and rechargeable with magnetic side buttons, the G502 X Plus is heavier and feature-packed with RGB and 13 buttons, and the G309 adds PowerPlay charging support.
Performance
This is where the G305 shines. The Lightspeed wireless connection is genuinely low-latency, indistinguishable from wired in real gameplay, and the Hero 12K sensor tracks accurately up to 12,000 DPI. The six programmable buttons and on-board memory let you save profiles directly to the mouse. Battery life is a standout, stretching to around 250 hours on a single AA, so you rarely think about power. For competitive players who want the lightest possible mouse, the G PRO 2 is faster to recharge and lighter, while the G502 X Plus targets those who want maximum buttons and infinite-scroll for MMO and productivity use. For most gamers, though, the G305 delivers all the performance they need.
Pros & Cons
- True low-latency Lightspeed wireless that feels wired in real play.
- Accurate Hero 12K sensor with up to 12,000 DPI and on-board memory.
- Exceptional battery life, around 250 hours on one AA battery.
- Lightweight and affordable, delivering flagship performance for less.
- AA battery adds slight weight versus rechargeable competitors.
- Only six buttons, fewer than button-heavy mice like the G502 X Plus.
- No RGB, which some gamers will miss for aesthetics.
Alternatives to Consider
If you want the lightest possible competitive mouse with rechargeable convenience, the G PRO 2 is the step-up pick. Players who need many buttons for MMOs or productivity should look at the G502 X Plus with its 13 buttons and infinite scroll. And if wireless charging appeals, the G309 adds PowerPlay support. For pure value performance, though, the G305 remains hard to beat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the G305 good for competitive gaming?
Yes. Its Lightspeed wireless is genuinely low-latency and the Hero sensor is accurate, making it a legitimate competitive option at a budget price.
How long does the battery last?
Around 250 hours on a single AA battery, so you can go weeks or months between swaps depending on your usage.
Does it use a rechargeable battery?
No, it runs on a replaceable AA battery. If you prefer rechargeable and lighter weight, the G PRO 2 is the alternative to consider.
Is the white version different from the black?
Only cosmetically. The white G305 offers identical performance to the black model, so the choice comes down to which suits your setup.
Verdict
The Logitech G305 Lightspeed in white is one of the best value wireless gaming mice you can buy, delivering low-latency performance, an accurate sensor, and huge battery life for a modest price. Competitive players wanting lighter weight should eye the G PRO 2, and button-heavy users the G502 X Plus, but for most gamers the G305 hits a near-perfect balance of price and performance.
